About podcast names
Podcast names have a harder job than most: people find shows by searching a directory, so the title has to say what the show is about, and it has to be easy to say out loud, because word of mouth is how podcasts grow. Enter your topic and pick a format to get names that do both.
This generator is free and unlimited — click Generate as many times as you like for a fresh set of podcast names every time. Nothing to install, no account, no catch.
What a podcast name needs to do
Podcast apps search show titles and descriptions, so a name that contains your topic is easier to find than a clever in-joke. Format words help too: “Files” and “Case Notes” promise true crime, “Conversations” promises guests, “Playbook” promises business advice. Apple's podcast guidelines also warn against stuffing titles with extra keywords, so the aim is one clear topic word and a format hint, not a list.
Podcast naming formulas
| Topic + format word | Gardening Conversations, Startup Playbook |
|---|---|
| The ___ Show / Hour | Feels like radio; good for hosted, regular shows |
| Let's Talk ___ | Friendly and obvious; works for beginner-focused shows |
| Host name + topic | Builds a personal brand; harder to hand over later |
Before you launch your podcast
- Search Apple Podcasts and Spotify for the name. Directories don't stop duplicates, and sharing a name with an established show buries yours.
- Read the name aloud the way a guest would recommend it. If listeners can't spell it after hearing it once, they won't find it.
- Keep it short enough to fit on the cover art at thumbnail size. Most people see your show as a small square on a phone.
- If your topic is broad, add a subtitle in the description rather than making the name longer.
Frequently asked questions
Should my podcast name include my topic?
Usually, yes. Unless you already have an audience who will search for you by name, a title that includes your topic is easier to discover in podcast apps and makes it obvious what the show offers.
Can two podcasts have the same name?
Directories generally allow it, but it causes confusion, splits search results and can create legal problems if the other show has trademarked its name. Check before you publish your first episode.
How long should a podcast name be?
One to four words is typical. Long titles get cut off in podcast apps and are hard to fit on cover art, so move any extra detail into the episode descriptions.
How do I save the podcast names I like?
Click any name to copy it, or use Copy all to grab the whole list. Press Generate again for a fresh set — your options stay selected, and nothing you type is sent anywhere: it all runs in your browser.
